It is not too early to start thinking of summer and vacation, and  include us pups.  We want to go with you too.  It will be more fun than being left behind if Florida is the vacation spot this summer.  There are many dog friendly hotels and beaches, where we can romp, hiking trails..

Here is a list of some cool, and hot places, for you and your pup to have some relaxing summer vacation fun.

• Fort De Soto State Park, Florida, a white sand beach where your pup can  play in the water from the waters of the Gulf of Mexico.  Southern Living magazine named this spot in Pinellas County on Florida’s West Coast one of the top five beaches in the south.  There is plenty of water fountains and a place to wash the salt from your pup and plenty of doggie poop bags for your pup.  Admission is only $5 for a day of fun.

Did I get into too much sand?

• Dinosaur World, Plant City where humans pay, $14.95 and us pups are no charge.  150 dinosaur statues, and lush green hiking trails
• Dogwood Park, Jacksonville Florida, 25 acres, off leash, privately owned and entirely fenced in…ponds and grassy knolls…….Lake Bow Wow for big dogs, and Lake Fifi for smaller pups.  There are chairs available for you humans and  one can enjoy coffee and chat.  $11 for a day visit.
• The Fountain of Youth in St Augustine where Pedro Menendez de Aviles discovered this spring in 1565 and the Timuca Indians lived here for 4000 years before that.   Now it is a place your pup can sniff and drink from the fountain.  Tickets are $12.
• Downtown Naples where you and pup can wander around town, and know there are many outdoor cafes, bars and restaurants.  A few stores for you to shop for upscale accessories and food… Diva Doghouse, For Footed Friends, Pucci and Catana, and Fergie’s Closet Doggie Boutique.
• Lincoln Road to watch people and pups out for the day, and outdoor restaurants
• Jonathan Dickson State Park, Hobe Sound. Here is a Florida park on the East coast, north of Tony Palm Beach.  There are miles of trails for dogs on leash.  $6 per vehicle is entry fee.
• Panama City Beach Dog Playground.   400 feet of beach front on the Florida Panhandle with 12 trails for dogs on leash.
• Miccosukee Canopy Road Greenway, Tallahassee.  Lots of beautiful trails  and secluded grassy areas n this state capitol park

Surely if your destination is Florida,  one of the above fun and friendly pup spots will appeal to you so you can take us along…no fun without your pup by your side….we need a vacation too!
