Daisey Mae is only 4 years old and has gall stones, and she sorta looks like me, kaley corgi….and that means she is cuuuuuuuuuuute!!!!!
mum and me do not know much about gall stones, or bladder stones, or even kidney stones! So we are gonna read up on it and pass on the information.
Even people get gall stones, so when people hurt when they have them, you can bet us dogs hurt juuuuuust the same!
hi, my name is Daisey Mae…i am only 4 years old and i do not feel soo good now….i want to play and play and play, but my gall stones are hurting me!
Bladder stones are mineral deposits that form between the kidney and the urethra. They normally get flushed out when the dog urinates, but sometimes due to an infection they do not and the mineral deposit will grow larger or small ones will stick together.
Genes sometimes play a part on whether a dog tends to have this problem and sometimes a diet with high protein can cause it.
Symptoms are blood in the urine due to the stone irritating the walls of the bladder, causing bleeding. Sometimes the dog will urinate but very little will come out and does so by straining. Pressure in the area maybe painful.
Surgery is an option but not aways the only option. It depends on the situation and sometimes a special diet will dissolve the stone. Only the vet can make that decision, so basically i know i would hate surgery, but sometimes that would be the only option….i am just saying, sometimes a special diet will work….but then, maybe the food taste awful….????????
One very nice note is stones can be prevented. Once analyzed after surgery, it can be determined if the dog needs to go on a special diet to prevent them from occurring, or to have periodic urine test done to determine when antibiotics should be given.
I hope to not ever get any stones in my body, but now i know if i do, there is help out there so i will not hurt. i am glad Daisy mae is getting help by the vet. she will not be in pain too much longer.

The Magical Life of Daisy Mae, corgi extraordinaire

Well…things have been going pretty good I must say. Despite being diagnosed by both Drs. Miller, Jonas and the radiology lab as having four “quite large” bladder stones, I have still managed to have fun the last few days…
On Monday we went to Creston park, where I met some of Picnic’s friends, we herded a golden retriever together, and I even herded him while he chased his ball. It was very fun. Mom and Dad were shocked at my activity level…they’ve been treating me like a hothouse rose.
On Tuesday I went to Brentwood park, which wasn’t as fun.
Today we went for a walk… all in all, not a bad week so far.
ooo my, they sorta look the same…which one is daisy corgi…n which one is picnic corgi??????????????
