Aminopterin is rat poison, and was used in the United States as a cancer drug for abortions. This was what was found in the recalled foods manufactured by Menu Foods. And, yes this story is in the category…good things to eat!……but it is my way to put as much word out regarding the recalled foods and news that develop.

There are 95 brands that are recalled and some are under private labels, like Iams, Nutro and Eukanuba. They are being sold in North America Walmart, Safeway, Kroger and various other stores.

The President and CEO of Menu Foods, Paul Henderson says the toxin has been identified but will not confirm the source was from China, a country that they use for the wheat gluten. Aminopterin is a rat poison used in other countries, not in the United States.

There were two plants involved in the food manufacturing, one in Emporia, Kansas and Pennsauken, New Jersey. Henderson does not believe the food was tampered with at both plants.
