How to help the animals from the Haiti earthquake

The most horrible news of the year so far is the earthquake in Haiti…thousands of humans have died and homes destroyed. Included with the thousands of humans that need emergency help now are the animals on the island.  There are thousands of farm animals and pets and in an earthquake, all living beings suffer if they are affected.

There is an organization that has been formed specifically to organize efforts to help the animals in Haiti. It’s called the Animal Relief Coalition for Haiti (ARCH), comprised of several organizations that are taking donations and helping with the relief efforts of the thousands of farm and companion animals on the island.

By donating to any one of these three organization, you can help the animals of Haiti:

Association for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA)
The International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW)
World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA)
American Humane

You can also donate to the National Disaster Search Dog Foundation (SDF) who have deployed many dog/handler search and rescue teams to help with funds needed in the search and rescue efforts in Haiti.
