Dear Kaley, I hear about dogs loving food, but mine does not want her breakfast…what do i do?

Dear Kaley, I have two dogs and I prefer to feed them both at the same time, twice a day, morning and night. My one dog, a food hound, probably like your corgi, is ready for his morning meal and eats with gusto…..as if it has been his first meal for days! My other pooch turns up her nose and does not eat. What do i do?

Dear Why can’t my dogs be the same,

First of all, dogs are not the same, anymore than humans! Some dogs do not mind the rain, whereas some would rather sit it out in the house, some love that ole toss the ball and fetch and lets do it twenty more times routine and some look at you as if you are off your rocker…

Some dogs are just not interested in food as others. Some can have their bowls left out all day long to nibble as wish, where as, if i did that with kaley, she would eat it all, in one second!…Dogs are just plain individuals!!!!!!!!

Suggestion is…. feed both dogs, same time, same amount, and leave the food down for fifteen minutes. However, if your one dog is going to eat his and then the other pups portion, feed in separate rooms. If your pup who has not eaten or finished her bowl in allotted time, remove it and just feed her pm meal but give more. During the day, if you hand out food treats, do not give your non morning pup, any extra that you would give the morning pup eater. You do not want your non morning eater to think, she can avoid her morning meal, because she can get extras during the day. Dogs are smart, they figure things out!

She will not starve! She will either figure things out and eat twice a day, or be quite happy with the one meal in the pm!
